ADI Argument Cards for Earth-Space Science are designed to help students learn more about how to communicate their findings on an Argument Board. The example arguments include a combination of strong and weak evidence and justification.
Each set of Secondary Argument Cards contains 8 sets of 8 different argument cards for a total of 64 cards. Each card measures: 5" x 7"
Activity Idea: Have groups of students sort the cards into strong and weak arguments and then have them explain their reasoning behind categorizing the arguments as strong and weak. This is a great way to help students understand the different components of a strong argument. You will be amazed by how much students' arguments improve after doing this card sort activity.
One of the best ways to get students to improve their arguments is to have them critique example boards. These cards can be placed under the document camera for students to look at one at a time in a socially distanced classroom. Ask questions like "What else could they have included in their evidence?", "What question would you ask this group to learn more about their thinking?", "What has this group done well?" and "What would your suggestion be for this group to make their board stronger?"
