Your facilitator is Vic Sampson, co-founder of Argument-Driven Inquiry and lead author of the ADI investigation series.
How ADI supports Georgia STEM Certification
Instead of creating entirely new systems, many schools discover they are much closer to certification than they realized.
ADI provides the instructional framework, classroom experiences, student evidence, engineering design process, and argumentation practices that naturally support each phase of Georgia's certification model. From authentic phenomena and engineering challenges to student notebooks, collaborative investigations, and evidence-based discussions, you will see how one instructional system can support multiple certification requirements.
The five phases of Georgia STEM Certification
The phases on the left are the state's. The right column is what ADI already puts in teachers' hands.
Identify problems, define driving questions, and map community connections.
Every ADI lab opens with an authentic, pre-packaged phenomenon, a real problem with real constraints, before any content instruction begins.
Brainstorm multiple solutions, document ideas, and shift teachers to facilitators.
The ADI Engineering Toolbox requires teams to generate and evaluate competing designs. The ADI Learning Hub captures ideation in real time.
Build 4 to 6 week interdisciplinary PBL units, establish school-wide journaling, and align K-5 vertically.
ADI challenges weave science, math, and ELA together by design. ADI student notebooks fulfill school-wide journaling with no additional infrastructure.
Execute PBLs in all classrooms, build physical prototypes, and formalize industry partnerships.
ADI Investigation Kit Bundles deliver hands-on, whole-class, open-ended challenges. Different teams, different solutions, unique data sets, every time.
Train students to present claim, evidence, and justification to evaluators, the highest-weighted GaDOE rubric item.
The ADI argumentation session rehearses the GaDOE student interview every investigation, all year. Students build this fluency across dozens of sessions before any evaluator walks in.
